"Can't you see that big green tree where the water's runnin free..."

Today we went for a nice long walk in the West Fork section of Oak Creek Canyon. The trail winds back and forth across the creek, so there are many crossings.







The canyon was shady, lush, and, at an elevation of 5000 feet, a very pleasant temperature.







Later on in the day, we visited Sunset Crater National Monument, a cinder cone (and associated lava flows) which formed only about 1000 years ago.






Lava is cool.
