Barra Burger

Litchfield National Park's main attraction are the beautiful waterways and swimming holes.

Pandanas are common in tropical Australia, and they grow in a groovy spiral pattern.

This is a close-up of a small paperbark tree growing in a creek. They are wetlands trees, and have very soft, layered, flaky bark... like a fine pastry.

Florence Falls. The basin at the bottom of the falls is full of swimmers.

This view is looking back the other direction from the falls, down at the dense monsoon rainforest that grows in the wet areas of the park.

The Monsoon Cafe, where we stopped for lunch.

Darrin displays the first of many Barra Burgers. Barramundi are large hump-backed fish that fairly feisty and are thus considered good fishing. They live in the rivers and estuarine habitats all along the tropical north, and are always on the menu. The soda is Schwepps Passiona... a popular passion fruit soda. We also had home-made mango cheesecake, which was super.
